Live and Local Working Group Terms of Reference
Aim of the Live and Local Program
Live and Local is a comprehensive capacity building program which aims build the capacity of local grassroots live music communities including musicians, businesses and venues and local industry workers. The Live Music Office partners with local councils to foster a consistent approach to best practice sustainable live music presentation, supported by better regulation and policy implementation that assists with growth through all levels of the venue-based live music industry and provides clear career pathways for new and emerging musicians and industry professionals.
Summary of the Project
A Live and Local program consists of a series of micro-festival music events supplemented by dedicated skills and professional development workshops, a local industry roundtable and support for development of a live music action plan informed by the experience, engagement and information gained through the program.
Governance Structure
The program is delivered as a partnership between local government and the Live Music Office. Budget for the program is allocated to the payment of musician fees, curator fees and workshop/forum logistics. Events Delivered facilitates the working group on behalf of Clarence Valley Council with support from the Live Music Office.
Working Group
Purpose
o To establish a group of people from various sectors of the community who can work together on a regular basis to support the growth of the live music scene in the Clarence Valley in accordance with the funding agreement with the Live Music Office.
Role
o To provide guidance and insight into delivery of micro-festival events, professional development needs and ways that council can support local scene long term
Responsibilities
o Attend video meetings when scheduled
o Provide relevant information to assist with conducting a live music census
o Provide ideas and insight about delivery of micro-festival events
o Provide ideas and insight about the professional development needs of the local live music community
o Support promotion of local musicians and venues
Term
o From May 2021 to November 2021
Meetings
o The Clarence Valley Live Music Working Group will meet, either in person or over video a number of times throughout the delivery of the Program, depending on the needs of the program.
